Invite Rule For Club Members: If you are setting up a match
or receive an invite to a match to a club other than your own, be sure you understand
the policy of guest play at the club where the match is to be played. Some clubs
and centers allow guests to play with a guest fee; some do not allow non-members
to play at their club.
|
USA on the Ball respects the policies of private clubs and does not in anyway
endorse or encourage matches to be played that are in violation of an individual
club’s guest policy. If you would like to set up a match with members outside your
own club, you have the option to play these matches on public courts. Please choose
your match destination carefully and with respect to all our club’s policies.
|
Those receiving invitations to play at a club other than their own club are
operating under the assumption that if they accept the match, they may be charged
a guest fee. As the Match Maker, it is your responsibility to know the policies
of the club where the match will be played, and AGREE not invite players that will
not be able to play on those courts.

How do I respond to a match invitation?
Answer: You will be receiving email invites from matchinvite@USAontheBall.com
. Simply click on the link to view the match details. Respond ONLY if you want to
accept. If you are not interested in playing this match, you do not need to do anything.
You may hold on to the email and accept later or you may delete the email. If you
wait, however, there is a good chance that the match will be filled.

I’m not receiving any invites from USAontheBall.com – Why
is this?
Answer: It is possible that your system is blocking this address
or redirecting this address into the spam folder. To fix this problem, open you
mail and click on the mail options or mail management link. It should walk you through
how to add USAontheBall.com to your filter which will allow you to receive emails
from us.
|
I’m not receiving many invites – Why is this?
|
Answer: Check your profile. Your availability may be too limited
or the level of play that you have chosen may not match what the matchmaker is looking
for. To verify that you have rated yourself according to your skill level, please
refer to the ratings grid on the player profile screen.
|
What is a Match Saver?
|
Answer: A Match Saver is a player who proactively enters themselves
into the system as available to play “today, tomorrow or both”. For those times
that you want to play but are not in match, you are basically posting yourself as
available. You will receive a regular match invite and have the ability to review
the match criteria before choosing to accept.
|
Who will have access to my personal information?
|
Answer: Your screen name will be displayed to users. You can choose
a very random name such as “maddog1”. Only your friends will be able to identify
who you are. Or you can choose to use part of your first or last name so that you
are a bit more identifiable to other users. We do not recommend using your actual
first and last name together.
However, the personal information that you do provide, is only used for filtering
and processing. If you receive unsolicited emails, phone calls, or junk mail, remember
your contact information may also be listed in other places such as your club’s
directory. The contact information that you provide will only be displayed if you
choose to post it on the Forum.

If I want to set up more than one court for a match, do I have to go through
the Set-up Match process more than once?
|
Answer: No. As long as you are setting up several courts for the
same day, time, and place, it is considered one match. You can actually set up 8
courts at a time.
|
What is the difference between NOW and DELAY Group on the Invite Screen?
|
Answer: The difference is a time delay. For example: You know that
two people, besides yourself, want to play a match for Friday. As the Matchmaker
you would want to make sure they receive preference to get into the match. The system
allows you to mark them as NOW Group. This means that the invitations to this group
will go out immediately. Twenty four hours later, if the match is not filled, the
system will send out the DELAY invitations to the players you marked in this category.
If the match is filled within 24 hours, the DELAY invites will not go out.
|
How do I communicate with members of my match?
|
Answer: Each match has its own message board, and viewable only
to those in the match. Posting a message, for example, “I’m going to be 15 minutes
late tomorrow” – Please check your message board prior to leaving for your match
for the most up-to-date info.
|
What if I need to find a replacement for myself?
|
Answer: Each match has its own Match Management System. Go to My
Matches and to the match you need to adjust. If you need a replacement, you would
click the “Withdraw” button. That removes you from the match. You would then push
the Re-query button. This will display all the available players for your match.
If you are withdrawing 48 hours before your match, you will see the Match Savers
listed at the top. These players are the ones that told the system they really want
to play. Beneath the Match Savers, you would see the other available players that
meet the match criteria.
Note: If you have to Withdraw within 24 hours of accepting the invitation,
please wait until the following day to find your replacement. The system will try
and fill it for you with the reply invites coming in. Once you have waited the initial
24 hours, and the match is still not filled, you may push the Re-query button, and
send invites to players who meet the match criteria but have not yet been invited.
The system will filter through who has already received an invite, but chose not
to respond. This will ensure that players do not receive multiple invites for the
same match.
|
Is anyone notified if I have to withdraw?
|
Answer: Yes. The Match Maker is notified when any participant hits
the Withdraw button. Each player who withdraws has the responsibility to find their
replacement. If you withdraw and it has been 24 hours since you accepted, you would
immediately press the Re-query to find your replacement.
|
What if the match is created to be played the following day – less than 24 hours?
I accept and then realize I can not play after all. Can I hit the re-query button
to find a replacement?
|
Answer: Yes. If the match was created within 24 hours of the match
start time, the re-query button will function. First, select Withdraw, then select
Re-query. You will see a list of Match Savers that meet the match criteria. Match
Savers are players not scheduled but wanting to play. Below the Match Savers are
the other players available to play, who have not yet received an invitation, and
that meet the match criteria.
|
How can I protect myself from playing with someone that I would prefer not to
play with?
|
Answer: You will have the ability to add players to your exclusion
list. (Blocked Users) Example: If Bob sets up the match, and he invites 12 people,
one of which is Jim, and one is you. You will both get the invitation. If you respond
first, you will be entered into the match. If Jim then replies, he will be informed
that the match is filled.
If Jim replies first, he is entered into the match. If you then reply, you will
get a message that one of your blocked users (screen name will be displayed) is
in the match. The system will ask you if you would like to continue with the reply
process or not. This is the safety net that allows you to reconsider responding
to the match invitation.
|
How do I Cancel a Match?
|
Answer: If after a re-query of the match criteria, a replacement
player could not be found the Match Maker can push the Cancel Match button. An email
will immediately go out to all participants that the match has been canceled.
We recommend that you check your email and message board before each match until
you are completely familiar with the system.
|
Does the system reserve courts?
|
Answer: No. USA on the Ball currently reserves the people, not
the courts. It is the Match Maker or match participants responsibility to call the
club or center and reserve the court.
